Hugh Jackman
Hugh Jackman is an Australian actor, singer, and producer. He is widely known for his long-running role as Wolverine in the X-Men film series.
Born on October 12, 1968, in Sydney, Australia, Jackman is the youngest of five children. His parents divorced when he was eight, and he was raised by his father. He studied journalism at the University of Technology Sydney before graduating from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
His early television work in Australia included roles in the series Correlli, where he met his future wife Deborra-Lee Furness. His big break came when he was cast as Wolverine in the 2000 film X-Men. The role made him an international star, and he reprised it in numerous sequels and spin‑offs, culminating in the critically acclaimed Logan in 2017.
Jackman is also a celebrated stage performer. He won a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his role in The Boy from Oz on Broadway. He has hosted the Tony Awards multiple times, earning an Emmy Award for his hosting. He returned to Broadway in 2022 starring in The Music Man.
On screen, his dramatic range was evident in movies like The Prestige (2006), Australia (2008), Les Misérables (2012) (for which he won a Golden Globe and received an Academy Award nomination), Prisoners (2013), and the hit musical The Greatest Showman (2017), which he also produced.
