Emmy Rossum is an American actress, director, and singer-songwriter known for her dynamic roles across film, television, and opera. She first captured the public's attention with her starring performance as Christine Daaé in the 2004 film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, a role that showcased her classically trained soprano voice. The film earned her a Golden Globe nomination and established her as a rising talent in Hollywood.

Following this early success, Rossum appeared in a variety of films, including the disaster epic The Day After Tomorrow (2004), Poseidon (2006), and the supernatural romance Beautiful Creatures (2013).
