Cassidy Hutchinson is an American former White House aide who served as a special assistant to President Donald Trump and as a senior aide to White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. She gained national attention for her testimony before the House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack, where she provided detailed accounts of events inside the White House leading up to and on the day of the attack.
During her testimony on June 28, 2022, Hutchinson described overhearing conversations among senior officials, including an attempt by President Trump to grab the steering wheel of the presidential vehicle to redirect it to the Capitol. She also recounted being told by a White House official that Trump had expressed support for the rioters. Her testimony became a pivotal moment in the committee’s investigation.
Before her role in the White House, Hutchinson worked as an intern for the Republican National Committee and the Office of the Vice President. She graduated from Christopher Newport University in 2018. Since the testimony, she has remained relatively private, with her actions continuing to attract public and political commentary.
Following her testimony, Hutchinson became a target of intense public and political scrutiny. Supporters lauded her courage in coming forward, while detractors accused her of embellishing or misrepresenting events. Nonetheless, her accounts were corroborated by other witnesses and documentary evidence cited by the committee. The episode reinforced her place in the narrative of one of the most contentious periods in modern American political history.
